Meet Nikki

Growing up, I always had a passion for makeup. I can remember how I loved watching my mom do her makeup each day, and being a creative person, I realized that makeup could create a little bit of mystery and magic. As I got older, I was constantly putting makeup on trying new looks for myself and my friends. Applying makeup came so naturally to me, I knew that someday, it would not only be my hobby. I knew it would become my career.
While I was in high school, I attended BOCES and studied Cosmetology. I became a licensed cosmetologist and started working in a salon. Being that I wanted to advance my skill, I went to the NY Academy of Makeup, and became a certified Master Makeup Artist. Gaining more knowledge to develop my craft didn't stop there. I've taken classes from celeberity makeup artists like Tori Balsamo, I've worked on set for a short film doing some special effects makeup, and I've worked on the models for NYFW. Each of these opportunities gave me valuable experience and exposure and were well-worth the time and effort.
Although I'm versed in different types of makeup application, Bridal is my specialty. I love creating a natural beautified look and find enjoyment and reward in seeing the results. There's no better feeling than seeing a client's happiness radiate through her smile on her most important day.
As you can see, I love make-up, but I am also interested in other aspects of the Beauty industry. I’m also a licensed hairstylist working in a salon. I grew up working with hair, for my mother is a hairstylist, and so are my sisters. It was natural for me to follow that path. As a child, I would always play with my mother’s mannequin, while she worked on her clients in her salon at home. I remember those days, for sure.
Once I entered middle school, my mother began teaching me everything
she knew about hairdressing. To get more hands-on practice, I began working as
my mother’s personal assistant, helping her out with her clients. As I stated
earlier, when I was in 11 th Grade, I went to BOCES. After high school, I moved
away to attend college for a while. Although I didn’t work in a salon at that time, I
continued doing hair for my friends. My passion for working with hair and make-
up kept calling me back, so I eventually left college, moved back home, and
started working in a salon. To date, I’ve worked in a few salons, learning different
aspects of the industry. Each salon gave me opportunity to advance my skills.
As you know, the hair industry continues to change. I love learning new
techniques and services that I can offer my clients. I’ve taken many classes
related to hair, and I can do color, haircuts, hair-straightening treatments, updos,
and extensions, plus I’m certified with Bellamihair.
Now that you’re heard a bit about me, I welcome the opportunity to speak
to you. If you’re looking for a one-stop show, I’m your girl. Making others feel
good about themselves enriches my spirit, and I’m happy to say I love every
aspect of the beauty industry, and I’m blessed to say I love my job.
